After I turned 16, I was eager to get a job waiting tables. After I moved away to college, I started working at a new restaurant and was of legal age to serve alcohol. Since the new restaurant knew I had experience in the industry, I think they assumed I had experience serving alcohol. I didn't, but of course, I ID'd everyone who looked under 21. My manager saw me serve a drink to an older person once and I got in trouble for not IDing the person. I then learned that the state's law required that I ID everyone I serve, even if they look over 21. I was very lucky that I found this out quickly, but that made me realize I needed to learn more about the law. I have since been studying up on it and plan to post about interesting laws on my new blog!
